Order of Service Guide

Yellow - please alter

White- please leave

If you are printing yourself on an A4 sheet folded in half

the order is BACK and FRONT, then INSIDE 1 AND 2

This is NOT a print template - if you need an example please e-mail steve@funeralcelebrancy.com

At the moment this is an idea to help people plan a service, particularly when there is a deadline or when we are unable to meet. I hope that you find it useful. If you wish to use a keyboard and type straight in, please download the Word document.

If you are unsure please call me and I will talk you through the complete document.

ORDER OF SERVICE

Entry music

Title - Artist

Anything appropriate and that you are comfortable with.

We can ONLY use tracks that are commercially available

Welcome & Introduction

Reading (or not)

This help people to focus their thoughts -

a poem perhaps, but printed in the Order of Service

Tribute (delete if not needed)

Anything that is a personal tribute about what

the person meant to the person/people writing it

Please do NOT be tempted use Chat GPT or similar  for the tribute or eulogy -

whilst good for many things, it produces very lengthy and impersonal words.

Hymn (or not)

Words of hymn here – don’t spend time sourcing these – if there is an organist, they will play and I have the words. If the music is recorded, we can choose the correct words.

Name's Story

Music for Reflection

Title - Artist

Try to choose something calm and mellow. Instrumentals are good.

Try not to choose anything ‘singalong’ for this part of the service.

Quiet Reflection

This includes an opportunity for those with faith to say their own private prayer

The Lord's Prayer (or not)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us;

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,

For ever and ever. Amen

The Committal

A personal farewell – a thank you and a pledge that we will always remember them.

Closing Words

Reading (or not)

Printed in the Order of Service for people to follow

This reading is a positive note to the end of the service - ideally in first person... "it's what he/she might want to say to you today"

See the readings with RED titles in the Poetry and Readings book.

Exit music

Title - Artist

Could be anything. An uplifting tune

gives a very positive feel to the end.
